The legacy of Dr K. K. Leung, extends far beyond the realms of banking and business. He was widely admired not only for his remarkable achievements but also for his unwavering support and deep commitment to the community.
Dr Leung’s success in his professional life inspired him to give back generously through his contributions to noble causes in education, social welfare, and healthcare. Following in the footsteps of the eminent overseas Chinese figure Tan Ka Ki, who believed in repaying society’s kindness, Dr Leung dedicated himself wholeheartedly to philanthropy. Numerous educational institutions across Hong Kong, from kindergartens to secondary schools, as well as health clinics and homes for the elderly, proudly bear his name — testaments to his lasting impact.
He was also instrumental in establishing the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, further exemplifying his commitment to fostering excellence. His charitable endeavors extended beyond Hong Kong, reaching Mainland China and abroad, leaving a profound and enduring mark on communities. HKU was truly fortunate to be among the many beneficiaries of his generosity.
In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to community service, he was conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa in 1994.

The K. K. Leung Building (梁銶琚樓) was officially opened on September 19, 1989, as part of the University's Main Campus redevelopment. It was thoughtfully designed to support our growing student community and to provide essential facilities for teaching and learning. The building is named in honor of Dr K. K. Leung (梁銶琚), a highly respected figure in Hong Kong's banking industry, in recognition of his remarkable philanthropic efforts and generous spirit.
Over the years, the K. K. Leung Building has become a vibrant hub for academic life, housing the Faculty of Law, departments from the Faculty of Social Sciences, a law library, and various language centers. Today, it is home to the HKU Business School, serving as a lively center for business education and research.
A notable feature of the building is its top two floors, which house the Senior Common Room. This inviting space is designed for members to gather, dine, and connect in a cozy environment while enjoying stunning views of Victoria Harbour.
