A Legacy Gift Supporting Medical and Health Sciences Education

Jan 2016

The “Bau Tsu Zung Bau Kwan Yeu Hing Scholarships” (鮑志成鮑關柔馨獎學金) have been established with a HK$100 million bequest from the estate of the late Dr Maurice Bau Man-Kwong to nurture the leaders of tomorrow.

The Scholarships were named in memory of his parents, Dr & Mrs Bau Tsu Zung.

The late Dr Bau Tsu Zung was an alumnus of HKU, having graduated from the Medical Faculty in 1927 and received a Doctor of Medicine in 1932, thus starting the family’s connection to the University. The Scholarships will benefit deserving undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in the pursuit of excellence in their studies.

  1. For Undergraduate Students: (i) Bau Tsu Zung Bau Kwan Yeu Hing Scholarship – for Medical Scholars/Inter-professional Programme (ii) Bau Tsu Zung Bau Kwan Yeu Hing Springboard Scholarship

  2. For Postgraduate Students/Clinical Trainees: (iii) Bau Tsu Zung Bau Kwan Yeu Hing Research and Clinical Fellowship

In recognition of this generous gift, the Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education (IMHSE), established in 2004, has been named the “Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education” (鮑氏醫學及衛生教育研究所). The donor family and friends gathered at the Medical Faculty on October 22, 2015 for an inauguration ceremony and a tour of the Institute.

A warm and cosy plaque unveiling ceremony was held to signify the inauguration of the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education.
