In Loving Memory of Dr Lee Shau Kee (1928–2025)

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Lee, a visionary philanthropist and steadfast supporter of education. His profound contributions have left an indelible mark on HKU, shaping generations of scholars and enriching our campus life.

For decades, Dr Lee’s generosity transformed HKU—through prestigious scholarships that empowered bright minds, groundbreaking research that spurred innovation, and world-class facilities that fostered learning and culture. His name remains synonymous with excellence, embodied in the vibrant community of Lee Shau Kee Hall, where he often shared his wisdom and values with students during High Table Dinners.

Beyond HKU, Dr Lee’s philanthropic foresight resonated across Hong Kong, China, and the region, uplifting education and inspiring countless lives. Though we mourn his loss, his legacy endures in every corner of our campus and in the hearts of those he inspired.

HKU extends our deepest condolences to Dr Lee’s family. His light will continue to guide us, and his impact will forever be cherished.
