A magnificent gift of HK$400 million is received from HKU’s long-term supporter Mrs May Tam 譚麥美燕女士. The gift will be equally shared for the establishment of the Tam Wing Fan Institute of Advanced Life Science and the Tam Wing Fan Medical Development Fund.
The late Mr Edmund Tam Wing Fan 譚榮芬先生 (BArch 1956; Honorary University Fellow 2019) and Mrs May Tam (Honorary University Fellow 2023) have been steadfast supporters of the University. Their contributions have direct impact on the University’s multifaceted success, including but not limited to the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, research on kidney and neurological diseases, studies on stroke and dementia, and support for COVID-related studies.
We are profoundly grateful to Mrs Tam for bearing the torch of love and kindness started by her late husband. Their generosity and trust have given us strength to push forward life science, and medical research and education. This transformative gift will enable us to make a real difference in these fields and push the boundaries of what is possible.
