The Rosie Young 90 Medal for Outstanding Young Woman Scholar

Inspiring Young Female Academics to Pursue Excellence

To celebrate Professor Rosie Young's 90th birthday in 2020 and pay tribute to her remarkable career and contributions, the Rosie Young 90 Medal for Outstanding Young Woman Scholar was established. This prestigious award aims to honor Professor Young's immense achievements and inspire talented young academics to follow her esteemed legacy for years to come.

On December 11, the Rosie Young 90 Medal Presentation Ceremony took place to recognise the 2023 and 2024 awardees. The ceremony began with welcoming remarks from Professor Derek Collins, “Each year, the steering committee struggles to decide which are the most deserving candidates. We have so many outstanding, accomplished women professors in many disciplines. They work so well in future leadership in academic institutions and health and well-being in our communities. The recipients here today are truly the best of the best.” Afterwards, awardees presented their teachings and projects highlighting their leadership and service to HKU and the community.

Professor Rosie Young expressed her joy with the audience, “Today, I am happy and proud that my name is associated with the medal awardees.
