To celebrate the 25th anniversary of its graduation, the Class of ’84 wanted to celebrate the occasion by supporting a worthy social cause.
They decided to establish an extraordinary initiative which embodies the spirit of community that is at the heart of the University: the “HKU Class of ’84 Social Inclusion Fund” to encourage HKU students to drive and participate in social inclusion services.
The Fund supports HKU students in organising and participating inclusion projects with a focus on ethnic, racial, gender, cultural and religious inclusion through grants.
It also recognises students’ achievements in promoting social inclusion by funding scholarships for exchange programmes.
The Class of ’84 organising a series of reunion activities to raise funds for the Fund; the first was a Walkathon, from the University Lodge to The Peak, in September 2009. Proceeds from the Class’s Silver Reunion Dinner held in November also went towards the Fund.
