HKU Celebrates the Thirteenth Inauguration of Endowed Professorships

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held its Thirteenth Inauguration of Endowed Professorships yesterday (25 November, 2024), celebrating six new Endowed Professorships and two new Outstanding Young Professorships. Additionally, 34 Endowed Professorships with successive appointments were recognised.
Through a solid Town-Gown partnership, HKU has welcomed a total of 120 Endowed Professorships since its inception in 2005. An Endowed Professorship is one of the most significant awards bestowed upon eminent academics within the University in support of their academic and research endeavours. Each gift embodies a captivating narrative, and an inspiring vision of the generous philanthropists and the academe.
Outstanding Young Professorship Scheme Nurtures Rising Stars
This year, Outstanding Young Professorships were featured for the first time at the ceremony showcasing the HKU's commitment to nurturing emerging talents and rising stars. Outstanding Young Professorships are designated for outstanding Assistant Professors or Associate Professors, further reinforcing HKU's dedication to fostering the next generation of academic leaders.

Venerable Yuen Hang Memorial Trust Professorship in Buddhist Studies
Bingei and L & T Charitable Foundation Professorship in Dementia Research
Mok Sau-King Professorship in Law

Pollyanna Chung and Eric Cheung Professorship in Surgical Oncology
Belinda Hung Outstanding Young Professorship
