HKU Admits Seven Outstanding Student-Athletes via “Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme” 2025/26

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) launched, at the beginning of the 2022/23 academic year, the “Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme”, which aims to facilitate the enrolment of exceptional athletes into the University, with competitive admissions primarily based on candidates’ sporting achievements. This year, seven outstanding student-athletes were admitted to HKU via the “Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme”. The students were awarded the “HKU Lee Shau Kee Top Athletes Scholarship”, amounting to a total of HK$2.1 million, to support them in their pursuit of both sporting and academic excellence.
This year’s awardees include, Pang Wing Ka (Para Table Tennis), admitted to the Bachelor of Social Sciences programme; Mak Hiu Tung Tiffany (Sailing), Kwok Chun Ting (Athletics), Karlsson Jane Christa Ming Suet (Athletics), and Leung Ching Hang Wesley (Athletics), enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration programme; Wong Shun Yat (Fencing), set to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology; and Jia Wai Yin (Athletics), admitted to the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences programme.
The "HKU Lee Shau Kee Top Athletes Scholarship" was established in 2022 with support from the Lee Shau Kee Foundation. The Scholarship aims to support outstanding student-athletes admitted to HKU, enabling them to pursue their dual-track development in sports and academics. Since its inception, a total of 27 top athletes have been awarded, including Coleman Wong (Tennis), Cindy Cheung Sum Yuet (Swimming), Tse Ying Suet (Badminton) and Russell Williams Aylsworth (Sailing).
