Thanks to the generosity of Dr Tam Wah Ching, the 3rd floor of the Main Library has now been transformed into a learning commons style-facility providing a variety of spaces suitable for different learning styles, including reflective self study as well as collaborative study. With a floor area of 3,100 square metres, Level 3 comprises 5 zones; namely TECHNOLOGY, BREAKOUT, MULTI-PURPOSE, COLLABORATION, and STUDY.

A dedication and opening ceremony was held on September 27, 2012, to recognise Dr Tam’s vision and commitment to supporting learning in the Main Library. The new environment of the Main Library is designed to greatly enhance the student learning experience and facilitate peer learning, as well as interaction with library staff and their support services. It was also planned to accommodate the increase of students in 2012 due to the double cohort.
