On a summer’s night, a group of HKU Foundation members enjoyed the exclusive eco-tour “Night Safari in Lung Fu Shan 夜遊龍虎山” with their family and friends.
With a headlamp to see by, participants were guided along tranquil trails and past secluded streams, which are just footsteps away from the HKU Campus. They were able to have a close encounter with some uncommon reptiles and birds, such as the Chinese Gecko (中國壁虎), the Green Cascade Frog (大綠蛙), Collared Scops Owl (領角鴞), and experience groups of butterflies and moths as well as fireflies (螢火蟲)!
The event was supported by the Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre, which was jointly established in 2008 by HKU and the Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR Government.
Recently a new species of ant which has never been found around the world was discovered by HKU biologists just at the foothill of Lung Fu Shan Country Park. (More)
Amongst other membership privileges, this tour is one of the exclusive activities that we organise for HKU Foundation members from time to time. You are most welcome to join us! For more information, please visit www.hku.hk/hkuf or contact us at hkuf@hku.hk.
