Carrying the Torch: Honouring Dr Daniel Yu Through Innovation

In 2025, HKU received a magnificent gift of HK$500 million from its long-term supporter, Mrs Mayce Yu. The donation will support the establishment of Tech Landmark III. In deep gratitude, HKU has named the tower the Daniel Yu InnoTech Tower (於崇光科創樓).

The late Dr Daniel Yu Chung Kwong (Honorary University Fellow 2014; Hon DSocSc 2023) and Mrs Mayce Yu have been steadfast supporters of the University for many years. Their contributions have significantly advanced the University’s success across multiple fields, including the establishment of the Daniel and Mayce Yu Medical Development Fund and 4 Endowed Professorships at the HKU Faculty of Medicine in virology, rheumatology and clinical immunology, anaesthesiology, and breast cancer research.

HKU is profoundly grateful to Mrs Mayce Yu for carrying forward the torch of love and kindness ignited by her late husband. Their extraordinary generosity and trust will empower the University to expand its frontiers in innovation and technology, strengthening Hong Kong’s long-term competitiveness on the global stage.
